“Get out of your mind and into your life.” – Steven C. Hayes
Everyone has a different story, different experiences, and a different path to healing. Bringing oneself to begin the therapeutic journey is a huge step on its own, and the path forward should be geared specifically to you. Creating a safe environment for each of my clients is a priority for me. I implore all clients to be open and honest with their therapist so that we can work together to find the best therapeutic approach that would be most conducive to your healing. I have experience in working with many different mental health diagnoses, such as depression, anxiety, PTSD, addiction, suicidal thoughts and more. I use the therapeutic framework of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, while also utilizing Person Centered, Motivational Interviewing, and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy.
My passion in the mental health field began with wanting to help those struggling with substance use as well as their loved ones. I began my career volunteering at a transitional housing facility where I worked under a substance abuse counselor, providing group therapy and case management for those in addiction recovery. From there I went on to obtain my Master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy. Both within and outside of my graduate program I have worked with children, adolescents, and adults, as well as provided individual, group and family therapy.
I also have years of experience in addiction research. I have researched the intergenerational transmission of addiction. My analytic review focused on the comparison of multiple therapeutic addiction treatments and their efficacy in treating not only addiction but co-morbidity as well. My research and experience has taught me that one size does not fit all and I utilize this mindset with each new client.
I am an Associate Marriage and Family Therapist (AMFT#135971) who is currently obtaining hours toward licensure under the supervision of Dr. Julia Rosengren. When not in the office, you can find me swimming in the ocean, enjoying a morning hike amongst some beautiful nature, or practicing self-care by putting on a podcast and cooking a delicious meal.
